Dr Lynn Smart-Ridgway

I was raised on a small farm near Tulameen. Along with the usual farmyard menagerie of horses, pigs, sheep, chickens and dogs, was an assortment of more unusual pets. Tame squirrels, song birds, Canada geese and deer were all a part of growing up in the country. I was an animal lover from the earliest age, and always knew I wanted to spend my life helping them in some way.

I studied biology at the University of Victoria, and then went on to study at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I then worked in rural mixed and large animal practice in Saskatchewan before starting a moible companion animal practice in Swift Current, Saskatchewan with my husband, Dr. Ryan Ridgway. Cascade Veterinary Clinic is our second successful venture into practice ownership, and I enjoy the challenges and opportunities that each day brings. I am happy to have returned to my hometown and enjoy helping old friends and new faces alike.

Dr. Ridgway and I are the proud parents of an amazing daughter. We also share our home with our beloved dog, Ella, our cuddly cat, Sassy , and a tame but disabled pigeon who was once brought into the clinic because he couldn’t fly. I have been a horse enthusiast from an early age, and we currently have three horses, Joe, Flicka and Bo. I also enjoy running, hiking, sewing, gardening, and travelling.

I believe in practicing veterinary medicine with patience and compassion, and strive daily to understand each situation from both the owner’s and patient’s perspective. I understand that medicine is complex and often confusing and will always do my best to help you understand your animal’s situation. I love the variety that mixed rural practice brings, and have a particular interest in cardiology, abdominal ultrasound and surgery, and small animal dentistry. I look forward to getting to know you and providing quality medicine for your pets!
